4 Days Wildebeest Migration Calving Season - Ndutu Area Overview
The calving season of the Serengeti wildebeest migration stands as a remarkable spectacle occurring within the East African Serengeti ecosystem, primarily nestled in Tanzania. This event forms a pivotal component of the Great Wildebeest Migration, an awe inspiring phenomenon that orchestrates the movement of well over a million wildebeest alongside other herbivores like zebras and gazelles, all driven by the pursuit of fresh grazing grounds. Generally transpiring between January and February, the Serengeti wildebeest migration calving season is concentrated in the southern expanse bridging the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, colloquially known as the Ndutu Area. However, it’s worth noting that the precise timing can exhibit slight variations from year to year. Within this temporal window, gravid wildebeest amass in impressive numbers across the fertile plains of the Serengeti, poised to bring forth the next generation.
